Today in 2023, shopping is all about the experience and the journey one goes throughout the complete process. Luxury packaging design is not just about money but to create a memorable experience in each step. The motive of luxury product packaging is beyond physical protection; it is having a direct link with the brand and its unique story. People are ready to pay more for the pride of being associated with the luxury brand.

The designer here should understand more about the packaging requirements, the product, and what the product is supposed to sell. Primary sketches of luxury packaging will help to analyze how the package will work, appeal to customers, and if it will lead its sales. Sketches will save a lot of time and cost before executing actual product packaging. Refining of the idea is done later followed by lettering and spacing.

The colours used in the premium or elite packaging are not bright; instead, they are from matt finish to metallic and glitter shades. Pearlescent coating raised UV coating, metallic sheens and soft touch are some of the standard luxury effects combined with a unique structure. Silver and gold are associated with precious metals and jewellery brands.

It focuses on its set of target audience depending upon its requirements and emotions. Here products don’t have to put efforts to get noticed while the right set of the audience attracts towards the product.

In the luxury packaging, there is less of a need to communicate the unique selling points of the product. Typically, the competitive advantage here is in the brand equity and the connotations surrounding that brand.

The best way to put luxury into your packaging is to consider it as a compelling mission. One of the major differentiators between standard and luxury packaging is the degree of interaction required. High-end products take customers on a journey and relish their experience. Hence make sure your packaging is distinct and creative when your brand is elite.
